Organizational Relationship - Reports to the Senior Associate Dean and Director of the Center for Academic and CareerEngagementV. Job Purpose The Assistant Director for Career Development works with a team of professionals to integrate andadminister programs and services for the Wagner College Center for Academic and Career Engagement, which includes services for students withdisabilities, academic and career advisement, academic support services such as support for at-risk and transfer students, peer tutoring,and the Writing Center. Specifically, the Assistant Director is an expert in the areas of employer relations, career exploration,and graduate school preparation. In addition to serving as the expert in career exploration, the Assistant Director will provide academicand career counseling, group programming, will develop and implement assessment strategies, engage with members of faculty, and outreach toalumni, with the ultimate goal of ensuring student success in developing the skills and competencies necessary to successfully negotiatetheir academic affairs and professional careers during and after college. The Center for Academic and Career Engagement supportsstudents from their transition to Wagner and throughout the college experience as they select a major, consider study abroad options, gaininternship experience, and develop leadership skills, and assists in the application of these skills to a process of lifelong careerdevelopment. Students find their own answers to the question, "What's Your Wagner Plan?" as they follow a 4-step process of self-inquiry,major and career exploration, reflection and decision making, and strategic action - either a job search or graduate school pursuit. Theproactive and integrated services offered to all students include academic advising and support, tutoring, services for students withdisabilities, major exploration, personal and career assessments, career counseling, resume and cover letter preparation, interviewpreparation, evaluation of employment objectives, and assistance in planning internship and job search strategies. Students who utilize theCenter can connect to career and graduate school resources including job and internship listings, employer literature, a mentorship programwith Wagner alums, and networking and skill-building workshops offered on a regular basis to support students as they explore various careerpaths. The Center adds value to the students' educational experiences by assuring that the resources of the College are available to ourdiverse population of students as they prepare for the world of work.VI.
